Easter weather forecast: Met Office warns of MILLIONS of Bank Holiday cancellations – but will you escape it?

MILLIONS of Britons are being warned they could face a Bank Holiday crisis.

With the four-day weekend just around the corner, a large part of the country was hoping for it sunny periods and warmer temperatures.

Wednesday was the official first day of spring, but better conditions were nowhere to be seen snow forecast covering parts, the weather service says.

Temperatures have fallen to 3 degrees Celsius in northern England and Scotland the last few days along with heavy rain showers moving in.

The Environment Agency has issued four flood warnings and 66 warnings in the past 24 hours following concerns about showers.

And as we head towards the Easter holidayForecasters don’t have much hope that the weather will improve.

A Met Office spokesperson said it will be “Most of Britain is in unrest” next week.

Strong gusts of wind wind and heavy rain is expected to beat the British ahead of the mini-break.

The weather service said: “Unsettled or changeable weather remains the most likely outcome over the bank holiday weekend and into the following week.

“All areas are likely to see further rain or showers at times, with some drier spells in between, but wet weather will favor the south-west, while northern parts will remain somewhat drier on average.”

However, the Met’s long-term forecast could change between now and Good Friday on March 29.

It comes after meteorologist Alex Deakin said “hail storms” were likely to hit soon.

He said today: ‘I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t have to deal with a hailstorm at some point.

“Rumbles of thunder, flashes of lightning are possible as showers come and go throughout the day.

“It’s going to be one of those days where things are going well one minute and then there’s a downpour the next.”

The weather However, things are expected to calm down before Sunday as it will be clearer and a lot drier for most before next week.

A Met Office spokesperson told The Sun: ‘We are likely to see a mix of sunshine and stormy showers this weekend, with some of these showers being a wintry mix of rain, sleet, hail and snow.

“Any snowfall will generally be confined to higher elevations in the north, while lower levels will see a mix of rain, sleet and hail.

“Any snow will most likely be confined to high ground in Scotland and possibly to high ground in the far north of England.

“The main consequences for most people will be that it will feel much colder than it does now, with a return of some night frosts.”

Unsettled across most of Britain next week, with spells of rain or showers in most if not all areas, strong winds in some places and temperatures almost slightly below normal for the end of March.

It may remain relatively drier in the north, with some wintry showers in the far north of Scotland.

During the holiday weekend and the following week, unsettled or changeable weather remains the most likely outcome.

All areas are likely to see further intermittent rain or showers, with some drier spells in between, but wet weather will favor the south-west, while northern parts will remain somewhat drier on average.

Temperatures are likely to remain near normal for this time of year.
