Elisabeth Moss' father, Ron, has died at the age of 79.

Ron, who shares Elizabeth with Linda Moss, died “peacefully” on Thursday in Clearwater, Florida after a brief battle with an infection, his grandson Max said. TMZ.

Max, the executor of Ron's estate, told the newspaper that Ron was surrounded by family when he died.

He wrote: 'Ron made so many friends throughout his rich life and we want everyone to know that you all meant so much to him. Thank you for everything you did for him throughout his life.”

Moss' father was a Scientologist, as was his daughter Elisabeth.

Her father was an accomplished trombonist who performed in jazz bands, TMZ reports.

He was once part of a jazz band that he said also included the late Ron Miscavige, father of Scientology leader David Miscavige. The New Yorker.

The elder Miscavige was once a former Scientologist, but he left the church and was subsequently shunned by his son.

Elizabeth's father, originally from England, moved to the US in 1974 and became the tour manager for jazz musician Chick Corea. Corea was also a Scientologist.

They met at Scientology's British headquarters in the 1970s and created a label together.

Ron also managed Isaac Hayes, the actor who voiced “Chef” in South Park. Hayes, also a Scientologist, quit the show after an episode ridiculed Scientology.

Ron said The Birmingham Mail in a 2012 interview, he said he got his green card by training to become a Scientology minister.

He said in the interview, “I found L Ron Hubbard's writings extraordinary and became a Scientologist at the age of 21. To me it just makes sense and it's a great way to live without traditional religion and dogma.'

Recalling her childhood in a 2017 interview with The guardMoss recalled how integral music was to her upbringing.

“My earliest memories are at the Blue Note in New York or backstage at different theaters or different clubs,” she explained.

'We grew up with musicians coming to jam. We had a lot of instruments. So during the holidays it was always like this: fifty people would come over and there would be a jam session with everyone playing jazz. When I was twelve, I didn't know anything about Nirvana or Oasis or any of those people. I listened to Ella Fitzgerald and Gershwin.”

In her 2022 interview with The New Yorker, Elizabeth opened up about her upbringing as a Scientologist and defended the religion in her first extended interview on the subject.
