RUGBY fans were treated to a first after Ollie Chessum was taken off the field with a head injury following a warning from his mouthguard.
The unprecedented incident took place during the Six Nations match between England and Wales at Twickenham on Saturday.
Chessum had only just returned to the field after being shown a yellow card ten minutes in for a high tackle.
The ace collected the ball before driving forward at his Welsh opponents.
But Chessum was accidentally hit in the head by a stray shoulder as he was tackled to the ground.
And immediately the latest technology of his mouthpiece was activated to warn of head injuries.
World rugby adopted the “game-changing” G-force technology after the World Cup in October.
It can sense the force of a blow to a player's head.
And if the collision is deemed high, a signal is sent indicating that the egg hunter needs to be checked by medics.
Lawmakers introduced it in an effort to eliminate concussions from the game.

And Chessum was replaced by Dan Coles for control for 10 minutes before returning to the match.
But England got little joy with and without Chessum on the field.
