As sweet as a love song! Faith Hill And Tim McGraw have one of the strongest relationships in the music industry – and their bond just keeps getting better.
The country couple first met at a gig in Nashville in late 1994, when they met. At the time, the “Just to See You Smile” singer was dating Kristine Donahueand Hill had just finalized her divorce Daniel Hill. Two years later, Faith joined McGraw on the Spontaneous combustion tour and sparks started flying.
After a whirlwind romance, the “Don’t Take the Girl” crooner married his country sweetheart in his Louisiana hometown in October 1996. Nearly two decades later, McGraw reflected on the romantic moment he proposed to his soulmate while on tour.
“We were here in the dressing room, on June 26, 1996, and it was raining and everything, and we had been on tour together for a while, and I was joking with her about getting married. And so I looked at her, took her hand and lunged forward [on my knees] on stage,” he recalled in a nostalgic video in October 2015. “She said, ‘We’re at a country music festival in a trailer house and you’re asking me to marry you?’ And I said, ‘Yes.’ So I went on stage… When I came back from stage, [I saw] a Sharpie with lipstick kisses across it and says, “Yes! I’ll be your wife. ”
The couple took their love across the country – and later around the world Soul 2 Soul tour. Between performances, awards shows and recording hits, the couple welcomed three daughters: Grace in 1997, Maggie in 1998 and Aubrey in 2001.
Even through their toughest moments, McGraw and the “Mississippi Girl” singer have been strong supporters of each other. When Faith lost her father, Ted Perry, in February 2019, her husband shared a loving tribute on social media in his honor.
“He was the sweetest, kindest man I ever knew,” McGraw wrote at the time. “No man in my life has ever had such an impact on me in terms of how to be a human being, a father and a friend.”
