But it’s no surprise that the most common point of contention is still changing seats.

Recently, the debate was reignited after an episode of the popular animated sitcom Family Guy resurfaced.

It showed Stewie and Brian Griffin refusing to give up their seats so a family could sit together in a scene that left viewers bitterly divided.

In the clip, which was featured in season 10 of the hit show, the duo can be seen boarding the plane next to a gentleman in the window seat.

His wife approaches with a small child in her arms and politely asks, “Excuse me, would you mind if we switch seats so my whole family can sit?”

But the claim is quickly refuted.

Stewie says, “No, no, we’re not switching.”

Undeterred, the woman continues calmly, “Because when we booked, they didn’t have three together.”

She is suddenly interrupted by Stewie, who shows little sign of relenting as he adds passionately: ‘Ma’am, ma’am, your poor planning does not constitute an emergency.

“You’ll see him in Paris, sit down.”

The woman then shuffles out of shot, presumably to return to her seat, while Stewie and Brian continue their previous conversation.
