Britain’s Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, announced on Friday that she is undergoing preventive chemotherapy. Post-tests after her major abdominal surgery in January revealed cancer. Notably, Prince William’s wife was hospitalized for two weeks in January for what was described as a successful planned operation for a non-cancerous condition. Now, the 42-year-old has revealed in the video that she is suffering from cancer, stating that she is doing well and getting stronger.

In a video filed on Wednesday, Kate stated: “My medical team therefore recommended that I undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”
“This obviously came as a huge shock, and William and I have done everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she said.

In February, King Charles also announced he was undergoing cancer treatment, meaning he had to postpone his public royal duties.
Kate’s office, Kensington Palace, said no further details will be shared about the type of cancer. The office said in a statement that the Princess of Whales is responding well to treatment and is on track to recovery. Preventive chemotherapy had started in February.
The palace said in a statement that Kate would not resume her official duties until after Easter. However, the princess’s long absence has led to intense speculation on the internet.

The royal couple wanted to keep the cancer a secret until their children – Prince George and Princess Charlotte – started their school holidays, which started on Friday.

“It took me time to recover from major surgery before I could start my treatment. But most importantly, it took us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that suits them, and to reassure them that I will be fine,” Kate said in the video.

“As I told them; I am doing well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirit,” she further said.
