Australian musician G Flip is experiencing a wave of excitement after receiving a digital nod of approval from pop icon Taylor Swift.
The ARIA Award-winning artist, who identifies as non-binary and uses they/their pronouns, took to social media to share their sheer excitement after Swift 'liked' their cover of her hit Cruel Summer.
In a heartfelt video, an ecstatic G Flip expressed their disbelief and gratitude.
“I just woke up and I'm looking at my phone and it's blowing up because Taylor Swift liked my cover of Cruel Summer,” G Flip said.
“Thank you so much, Taylor, for liking it,” she continued.
G Flip then paid tribute to what they call 'one of the best written pop songs of all time'.

“I just wanted to put my own spin on it and write new string parts and a new arrangement, but still use little hints of the original, that magic,” they said.
G-Flip admitted that they had been bracing themselves for possible backlash given the status of the original song.
“I really thought it would get a lot of hate because it's such a big song. And when you record a big song, you don't want to destroy it or ruin it,” said G Flip, visibly moved by the experience.
