It’s Veganuary – and countless retailers have stepped up to provide the very best plant-based alternatives for anyone taking up the challenge – or already committed to veganism.

British high street bakery Greggs has just announced the return of its meat-free favourite, the Vegan Steak Bake, just in time for Veganuary.

The vegan baking tin will be available in stores nationwide from Thursday 4 January, priced at £2 and available to order via Click + Collect and delivery via Just Eat and Uber Eats.

The Vegan Steak Bake first launched in January 2020 and now returns after pleas from fans on social media who have missed the bake since it came off the menu over two years ago.

And for those looking to get their Greggs fix this Veganuary, there’s also a whole range of other vegan Quorn items available for customers to enjoy.

These include the Vegan Sausage Roll, Glazed Ring Donut, Sweet Potato and Onion Bhaji Rice Box and Southern Fried Potato Wedges.

The Glazed Ring Donut retails from just £1, and vegans can expect to find them a delicious dollop of glazed fondant icing with their purchase.

The Sweet Potato and Onion Bhaji Rice Box contains sweet potato and onion bhajis, cooked long grain rice.

It is served with roasted peppers, spinach leaves and pickled red onions, as well as an Indian-style chana masala sauce with mixed vegetables, chickpeas, lentils and quinoa.

The popular Southern Fried Potato Wedges will cost customers just £1.30.

The food on-the-go retailer also offers a variety of vegan breakfast options, including the Vegan Sausage Breakfast Roll from £2.40 and Hash Browns from £1.30.

And to the delight of British vegans, flexitarians and general pastry fans, the return follows pleas from fans on social media.

Foodies had missed the Vegan Steak Bake dearly since it came off the menu over two years ago, with Greggs teasing a return on Twitter in recent days.

The Vegan Steak Bake was first launched in January 2020, following on from the hugely successful Vegan Sausage Roll launched a year earlier, with Greggs holding a late night drop for the brand new bake on New Year’s Day.

Greggs’ Grainger Street store in Newcastle was transformed with blacked-out windows and royal blue ropes as hundreds of dedicated vegans and Greggs fans queued up en masse with camping chairs to guarantee their first taste of the highly anticipated Vegan Steak Bake.

The food-on-the-go retailer has also subsequently launched a ‘Vegan Steak Bake Finder’ on its app to help fanatics find out availability at their nearest Greggs store.

Full details of Greggs’ vegan menu can be found on their website, all of which can be ordered via Click+Collect via the Greggs app or website, and available for delivery via Just Eat and Uber Eats in selected stores.
