And she had to stop using another one of her tips, a $6 oil, because it turned out to be way too effective.

“I’m going to tell you how I grew my hair super long,” said Spicy Prisha (@pikantprisha).

In her aftershe went through the steps she took for her success.

1. DO NOT TRIM

Forget all the advice you’ve heard in the past, she said. Don’t cut it.

“Hairdressers make you cut it, and I don’t do that,” she said.

“I haven’t had my hair cut in two years. There’s a myth that you need to cut your hair every six weeks if you want it to grow,” she added.

‘That’s such a lie. Just don’t cut your hair.’

2. STOP WASHING SO MUCH

“If you wash your hair less often, it won’t get as greasy,” she said.

“All you have to do is train your hair. I’ve trained my hair, so I don’t have to wash it as often. I’ll do it maybe once or twice a week and it’ll just hold up,” she said.

3. HAIR OIL

Prisha had to stop oiling her hair because it turned out to be way too effective.

She used Dabur Amla Hair Oil$6 from Amazon.

“I don’t do this as much anymore because I don’t want my hair to grow longer or faster, but you can use a hair oil and work it through your roots and ends when they are dry,” she said.

“Give it a massage, leave it on overnight and wash it the next day.

“I used an Indian hair oil, put it in the microwave, warmed it up a bit, stuck it through my roots and massaged it,” she wrote.

4. MINIMIZE HEAT

Stop using it as often as you need to use it at all, she said.

“If you use a curling iron or straightener every day, your rifts will split and you’ll have to cut them,” she said.

“I only wash my hair once or twice a week and then I straighten it properly, but generally I don’t overdo it,” she added.

5. DO NOT USE A HAIR DRYER

As with number four, hairdryers only damaged the hair, she thought.

“Don’t use a hair dryer. I haven’t used one in years. I let it air dry and let it dry naturally. I hate hair dryers,” she said.

6. STOP DYING

Go for your natural hair color, she said, it is much better for the health of your locks.

“Try not to dye too much. When I dyed mine it was so damaged. I would bleach it. I like natural colors and just keep your hair natural if you can,” she said.

7. USE OLAPLEX

She was a huge advocate of this hair repair product.

“I used to always use Olaplex. Before wash day, I would just run it through my ends and personally I feel like it makes my hair feel stronger and nicer,” she said.

8. HAIR PROTECTORS

This was useful, she thought, when using hair straighteners or curling irons.

“I also have a hair protector. I just put a little bit through the ends,” she said.

9. STOP USING MANY HAIR PRODUCTS

If you minimize hair products, going longer between hair washes is more manageable, she said.

“So I use a heat protectant, but I don’t use hair sprays. And I don’t use too much oil. So I can go longer between washes,” she added.

Commentators agree with her on many fronts.

“TRUE. My hairdresser said there’s no point in getting a haircut every month. She said once or twice a year, half an inch is fine,” one person said.

“Ex-hairdresser here. It’s okay not to cut your hair if you don’t bleach it. We blondes need trims to prevent it from breaking at least once every six months,” was someone else’s reasoned response.

“I haven’t had my hair cut in five years and it is healthy and strong. I’ll take care of it,” a third person said.
