They started breaking down tiles at 7.45am to expose the luxury complex's blue waterproof membrane.

This afternoon, locals told of the family's embarrassment as they rejoiced at its removal.

A woman whose home is overlooked by the spa spoke out MailOnline: “It's a humiliation for Hannah.

“I think she thought she could get away with it. I wonder if they'll move when it's all over.

Meanwhile, Sue Martindale, 60, said: “They live in a big house and they thought they could get away with it. They deserve what they have.”

Neighbor Jilly Bozdogan, 70, added: “The tiles are coming off fast and furious. I'm glad they're finally working on it. It has been a long story.

“My garden borders it and it is an eyesore. I had to plant trees to block it.”

Although permission had been granted for an L-shaped building, revised plans for the partially built property were submitted by Hannah Ingram-Moore in February 2022.

The revised plans for the “Captain Tom Building” include a new C-shape, a spa pool, toilets and a kitchen for “private use”.
