Justice is suing Apple, smartphones and children over the IPO of Jonathan Haidt and Reddit

This week, the US Department of Justice sued Apple because the company has a monopoly on the smartphone market. We dissect the lawsuit and wonder if this will be a major turning point in Apple’s dominance. Then, Jonathan Haidt, a social psychologist, argues that smartphones and social media are to blame for the widespread increase in mental health problems among young people. He tells us his four possible solutions to the problem. And finally, Reddit’s market cap was $9.2 billion when it debuted on the New York Stock Exchange this week, but the company is still not making any money. We talk about the challenges Reddit faces as it goes public, and how the site may change as a result.
