Reacting to the news on Facebook, one Haribo fan said: “I need this for the candy jar.”

Another said: “They look shitty.”

“I love that they are vegetarian,” said a third customer.

Each candy is shaped like a slice of three exotic fruits.

Each pack has three different flavors: blood orange, pineapple and watermelon.

Shoppers have been quick to compare the consistency of the gummy candy to that of Haribo’s Giant Strawbs.

The confectioner says the sweets are made without artificial colors and are suitable for vegetarians.

Right now, Haribo fans can bag the new sweets at Sainsbury’s.

They cost £1.45 for a 150g pack or £1.25 for those with a Nectar card.

Haribo fans were stunned last year when they discovered the true meaning of the name.

The brand was founded in 1920 by Hans Riegel from Bonn, Germany.

The name is an acronym of the first two letters of “Hans”, “Riegel” and “Bonn”.

Hans launched the company as a kitchen side hustlewith a stool, stove, copper pot, rolling pin and marble slab the only assets of the company.

Haribo’s first employee was his wife Gertrud, whom he hired in 1921.

Early fans of the brand included tech whiz Albert Einstein and World War I flop Kaiser Wilhelm II, who had gummy bears delivered to him in exile.

Haribo’s main brands in the UK are Starmix, Tangfastics, Supermix and Maoam

It comes after Haribo lovers were shocked to discover the real taste of the brand’s green gummy bears.

While most people usually assume that the green candies have an apple or lime flavor, observant package readers have noticed that they are in fact strawberries.

There are five flavors of Haribo Goldbear: orange, strawberry, pineapple, lemon and raspberry.
