Andy Murray is hoping SW19 officials will bend the rules and let his four kids in to watch him play when Wimbledon starts in July – after proving a lucky charm in Nottingham.

However, the British tennis star, who crashed 6-3, 6-1 to Alex De Minaur at Queen’s yesterday, admitted that his toddler son Teddie, aged three, may not have been the most encouraging relative in the crowd. by him during his victory in the Nottingham Open final on Father’s Day.

He told BBC Sports man John Watson: ‘I don’t know if I would want my three-year-old son [there] – my wife said that for the first 15 minutes, every time I hit a ball into the net, he would just say “Bullshit, nonsense!”

He added, “They’ve never all been around to watch, so I think they slipped in around the middle of the second set when things were going well.”

However, the 36-year-old tennis star, who is now likely to face a high seed in the early rounds at Wimbledon after his loss at Queen’s, said it would be nice to have his four kids – Sophia, seven, Edie, five, Teddy, three, and Lola, two – on Center Court to keep an eye on him.

He said: ‘Children are not allowed to come in there to watch the games. Maybe that’s why she [Wimbledon] would make an exception.

Murray added: “I thought it would be nice for them to come along and see when they get to an age where they sort of understand what I do – but I don’t think they care to be honest.”

Current rules at the All England Club allow children of all ages to play at Wimbledon, but crucially not on the show courts, which includes Center Court and No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 12 and No. 18 courts.

Murray’s reaction to seeing his kids in the crowd went viral on Sunday after they surprised him for Father’s Day.

In the emotional moment, Murray paused his acceptance speech after catching a glimpse of his wife Kim Sears, 35, and his four children — who he didn’t know weren’t attending the game. ‘

The former world number one defeated Frenchman Arthur Cazaux 6-4 6-4 in the final to win ten consecutive times and win the Rothesay Nottingham Open.

During his on-field interview after the match, he was clearly unaware that one of his children was present in person, saying, “Hopefully I’m coming back home tonight, see my kids for Father’s Day.

“Hopefully I get in before their bedtime, have a rest day tomorrow and get pumped up for Queens.”

At that moment, he heard cheers in the stands, looked up to see his supportive family all gathered, with wife Kim, dressed in black cat eye sunglasses, who smiles back at him and holds the couple’s youngest child.

Genuinely shocked, 36-year-old Murray counted his children, said ‘they’re all here’ and admitted he had ‘no idea’ they were coming to watch.

He said, ‘Oh my god, I didn’t know they were here. I had no idea they were coming.’

He added: ‘They showed up for the final at Surbiton last week, they showed up and it started raining so then they had to go home for the kids’ bedtime.

“They missed the end of the game, so it’s great that they managed to come today. I don’t know how many are here – they’re all there – thanks guys.’

People were definitely moved by the video on Twitter – posted by the LTA – with one person’s comment, “Omg that moment brought me to tears, so amazing for them to see their daddy win today.”

Another wrote: ‘I loved this, his heartfelt father voice entered the room very quickly, such a precious moment.’

A third wrote: “What a beautiful, real moment. Beautiful family.’

A fourth said, “The way he seemed genuinely shocked, happy Father’s Day Andy.

Murray reportedly first met his wife at a party before the 2005 US Open and they kept their relationship private for a while.

But they went public a year later when he won his first tournament in California and entered the stands to kiss Kim.

Kim, who was 18 at the time and still studying at school, said she asked her mother to call in sick for her, but pictures of them were splashed all over the newspapers.

The couple tied the knot at Dunblane Cathedral in Scotland on April 11, 2015, wearing a glamorous Swarovski crystal-encrusted gown by Jenny Packham, who also designs outfits for The Princess of Wales.

They held their reception at the Cromlix House Hotel in Dunblane, which Murray bought for nearly £2 million in 2013.

The hotel was closed for a few months for a renovation led by Kim herself and has since reopened.

Kim gave The Sunday Times Style a tour of the place which was uploaded on YouTube. She said in the video, “We’ve owned Cromlix for ten years now.

“I think at the time it needed a revamp anyway and that was the perfect timing.

“I was done building our childhood home, I was done having babies, and I saw it as an opportunity to really put our mark on it, put my mark on it.”

The hotel even has a private chapel where Murray’s brother and father both got married.

She said, “Those were really special memories for us.”

The pair share four children together, Sophia, seven, Edie, five, Teddie, three, and a two-year-old thought to be named Lola.

Their fourth child was born in lockdown in March 2021 and the couple have never revealed the baby’s name or gender.

In April, he posted a drawing of Edie after the pair had a coaching session together, where she hilariously wrote, “I don’t want to play anymore… you’re too close to me.”

Murray captioned the photo, “My first venture into the coaching world ended in disgrace,” with a crying emoji.

The family recently went on a family holiday to Marbella in April, where he shared a photo of him lifting Teddie over his head.

Speak against Alison Hammond of This Morning in 2021, the tennis star said his proudest achievement is getting all four kids to bed on time.

He also revealed that his eldest daughter, Sophia, plays tennis once a week.

Murray got through the week in Nottingham without dropping a set but it was a second tier Challenger event so he’ll get a better test of where his game is next week at Queen’s with the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Matteo Berrettini and Holger Rune all in the draw.

However, given the evidence of his movement, serve and match play this week, he looks like a good bet to enjoy his best run at Wimbledon since stumbling out of the 2017 quarter-finals with the hip injury that derailed his career.

His physicality was tested here as he won his semi-final at 6.30pm on Saturday evening, but was back again at 11am for the final, which was brought forward due to the threat of rain on Sunday afternoon.

However, he got off to a flying start, breaking the world No. 181 in the opening match before finally seeing the first set 6–4 down.

The second set was much tighter due to Cazaux’s big serve, but Murray broke at 4-4 and then served it out to get his hands on the trophy.
