They cost pennies and are also good for your wallet.

OFFICIAL GOOD: For a high-quality treat for puppies learning their craft, mix 60 g whole wheat flour and 220 g chicken liver.

Spread the mixture in a baking tray and bake at 180 degrees Celsius or gas mark 4 for 15 to 20 minutes.

After baking, let it cool and cut it into small squares while it is still slightly warm.

DOG COOKIES: Make this five-ingredient recipe quickly. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius or gas mark four.

Mix 130 g brown rice flour (or brown rice ground in a blender), half an apple, 185 g yogurt, a teaspoon of ground ginger and a tablespoon of olive oil.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes, such as hearts or bones.

Rub a little oil into a baking tray and bake the cookies for about 25 minutes until golden brown.

FUCK YOUR THINGS: Dogs love to explore and some simple games that stimulate their senses will keep them happy.

One of the simplest things from vet charity PDSA is to spread a treat on an old towel or blanket.

Roll it up, making sure the treats don’t fall out of the ends, and let your pup sniff the treats and sniff out the towel.

All you have to do is sit back and watch their tail wag!

LOTS OF FUN: Another activity for curious canines is putting treats into the holes of a muffin tin.

Place tennis balls over them and let your dog sniff them and move the balls to get to them.

To give pets an extra challenge for their nose and memory skills, put the balls back after they find the treat.

For small puppies, use an egg carton to store the treats.
