How Selena Gomez’s Boyfriend Benny Blanco Embarrassed Her at the Emmys
Selena Gomez has been famous for years, but that doesn’t mean that she and her boyfriend have never had an awkward encounter with a celebrity Benny Blanco was blamed for her most recent flu.
“Jason Segel happened to be at the Emmys, and he looked at me and started waving,” Gomez, 31, said as she played Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Friday, February 23.
Gomez got so excited that he recognized her because she is a fan of the actor. “This is a bit embarrassing. This is such a weird habit, but every night I fall asleep to the same show,” she revealed. ‘It will either be that way Friends or something comfortable. Gomez went on to say that when Segel, 44, waved, she immediately started waving back at the actor. “I was like, ‘Oh, hello!’” she recalled as she reenacted the incident.

As she greeted him from a distance, she said it was then clear that Segel wasn’t actually waving at her.
“I slowly realized he was waving at someone behind me and I thought, ‘Oh, God!’” she told the TV host Jimmy Kimmel as she covered her face and remembered the moment.
Gomez added that the encounter didn’t end there: it got worse. “He felt uncomfortable and then was tempted to come over,” she explained. “And then my boyfriend says, ‘Oh, she falls asleep with you every night.'”
Gomez was shocked by Blanco’s comment and told Kimmel, 56, that she didn’t know how to respond, so she decided to tell Segel the truth about her bedtime routine.
“I thought, ‘That’s weird!’ But I do!” she admitted, laughing at the experience.
Gomez and Blanco, 35, did not make their red carpet debut at the Emmy Awards last month, but were later seen together on the show.
The ‘Love On’ singer went public with Blanco in December 2023 and the two have been in love ever since.
