One woman may have found the answer.
Sash shared her antifungal trick via a video on her TikTok channel @sashdoeslife.
The TikToker often uses her account to share useful cleaning tips and tricks.
Her videos are very popular among social media users and she has amassed 444,000 followers on the video sharing platform.
In the video, Sash showed viewers the wall of her college bedroom, which was covered in black mold.
To get rid of the fungus, Sash took three simple ones steps.
First, she opened her bedroom window and placed an indoor dehumidifier on the windowsill.
Interior dehumidifiers help prevent mold and mildew in your home.
Plus they're extremely cheap and you can get a pack of 10 from Amazon for just £7.99.
She then took some Astonish mold and midwort spray and sprayed a generous amount on the affected area.
This spray is also very cheap and can be bought from Savers for just £1.19.
Then she wet a cheap cloth and wiped the wall with it.
“I don't really have to wipe much because the spray did all the hard work,” she said.
Sash then used an electric dehumidifier to suck the moisture out of the wall.
You can buy an electric dehumidifier from Amazon for £40.
“I can't afford to have this running all the time, but turning it on for a few minutes can make a big difference,” she said.
By the end of the video, Sash's walls were clean and dry, without a trace of mold.

Sash's video has clearly impressed many as it has racked up over 643,000 views on the video sharing platform.
