Ahmedabad: All eyes are on the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the exciting final of the 2023 ICC World Cup between India and Australia will be played today. Thousands of people have come to the city to witness the mega battle between the two big teams for the glittering Cricket World Cup trophy. Citing traffic congestion in nearby areas around the Narendra Modi Stadium, authorities have restricted the movement of vehicles on several roads. Restrictions have been imposed on the movement of vehicles from Janpath T to the main gate of Motera Stadium. The movement of vehicles from Kripa Residence to the main entrance of Motera Stadium is also restricted from 11am to 12pm.

The city traffic police have imposed a heavy traffic diversion from Madhur Dairy towards Tapovan Circle, diverting it to Dayanand Saraswati Circle.

According to the office notice released by the Gandhinagar Collector and District Magistrate, entry of heavy vehicles will be restricted from Bhat Koteshwar Chowk towards Motera to Shanti Niketan (Junior) School. Heavy vehicles coming from Mother Dairy will be diverted to Tapovan Circle via Apollo Circle. Amid all the restrictions, exceptions will be made for cricket match vehicles, government vehicles, ambulances, fire brigades and vehicles involved in emergency situations.

IND vs AUS Cricket World Cup: Over 6,000 security personnel deployed in Ahmedabad

More than 6,000 security personnel are expected to be deployed in the city of Ahmedabad and the Narendra Modi Stadium during the much-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia on November 19. The grand finale in the city’s Motera area is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, as announced by Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik.

During the press conference, Malik informed about elaborate security arrangements including personnel from Gujarat Police, Rapid Action Force (RAF), home guards and others. These measures are intended to facilitate the movement of more than one million spectators and ensure the safety of various dignitaries visiting the stadium. Of the 6,000 personnel deployed, nearly 3,000 will be based at the stadium, while others will secure key locations such as hotels where players and dignitaries stay.

One RAF team will be deployed inside the stadium, while another team will be stationed outside. A temporary command and control center will also be set up, equipped with a wireless network. Four senior IPS officers of the rank of Inspector General (IG) and DIG, along with 23 officers of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), will monitor the restrictions.

Amid this elaborate security arrangement, the match promises an electrifying atmosphere, with over a lakh spectators, including several politicians and celebrities, in attendance. The state government has coordinated efforts to ensure safety, cleanliness and traffic management during this high-profile event. Event hours are also limited from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
