Indian expat in UAE win lottery, Odisha will help educate victims of tragedy with money

Indian Expat in UAE: It has been 10 days since the Coromandel Express met the tragic accident in Odisha’s Balasore, which killed nearly 300 people and injured many others.

Even as financial and other types of aid have been announced by the government and celebrities, there are some Indians who still think of the victims irrespective of their geographical presence, such as a 28-year-old Indian expat in Abu Dhabi, who recently received Dh 20,000 (Rs 4.48 .885) won in a lottery.

He has pledged to donate an amount of his winnings to the victims of the terrible train accident that happened on June 2 in Odisha’s Balasore.

Born in Jaspur town in Odisha, Sahajan Mohammad works as a chef in a hotel in Abu Dhabi and earns around Dh 2,000. per month, reported the Khaleej Times.

Mohammad, who has been trying his luck at various lotteries for years, played the Dream Island scratch card game and won the prize on June 7.

Speaking about the deadly three-train collision, Mohammad told Khaleej Times that he will help people from his village who were injured in the tragedy.

“There are a few people from my locality who were injured in this accident. I will help those affected in my village first,” he said.

The June 2 accident that injured more than 1,000 people has been described as India’s worst rail accident in two decades.

The accident involved Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express and a freight train that occurred near Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore, about 250 km south of Kolkata and 170 km north of Bhubaneswar on June 2 around 7 PM

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the incident.
