Instagram is going OFF for some users after a mysterious outage
TENS thousands of Instagram users in the UK, US and around the world say the app has crashed.
A huge spike in the number of fault reports was observed Down detector around 3:30 PM GMT/10:30 AM ET on Tuesday.
Why isn’t Instagram working?
It appears that parent company Meta is experiencing problems as both Instagram and Facebook have crashed at the same time.
Meta is aware of the issue affecting both Instagram and Facebook.

About 80,000 users have reported problems in the UK and US alone Down detector on March 5, 2024.
The majority of those who have complained through the popular downsite say the problem lies with the app.
While about a third of users say they can’t refresh their feed.
People have flocked to rival social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to check whether the outage is widespread.
“When you see your friends on X after Facebook and Instagram is down,” said one user wrote.
Another tweeted: “The social media platforms Instagram and Facebook, both owned by Meta, are currently experiencing an outage.
“If you’re having trouble logging in, don’t panic. You haven’t been hacked (I panicked too).”
This is how you check if Instagram works
Instagram’s official Twitter page is a good first port of call.
The companies InstagramComms page usually tweets all the information about the latest problems and glitches.
Another thing people often do is tweet about their own problems.
So do a search on Twitter, then you will at least know whether it is something that only you experience or something much bigger.
It’s also always good to check that you’re using the latest version of the app.
Android users should visit the Google Play Store and tap the three lines in the top left corner.
From the menu, select My Apps & Games, followed by Updates and see if newer versions are available.
If Instagram is there, tap the Update button to the right of the name.
iPhone users should open the App Store and tap the Updates tab at the bottom of the page.
If all else fails, you can go to an independent status checking site such as Is It Down or Just Me, Is It Down Right Now, and Down Detector.
What to do when Instagram is offline
The best thing you can do is restart the app.
Force close Instagram by sliding up and then closing the app so that it closes completely.
See if it loads again.
It could also be a problem with your connection, so see if something else, like a web page, loads for you. If that doesn’t load, there’s a problem with your internet.
And if you’re still having problems after all this, it’s time to find out if you’re on your own.
Search Twitter to see if others are complaining about the same thing.
If you see a bunch of tweets about Instagram going down, you have your answer.
In that case, the only thing you can do is wait until the problem is resolved and check the above options for updates.
