Can you delete a Threads account without deleting Instagram?

Millions of people have joined Mark Zuckerberg’s brand new social network Threads.

Chances are that some people downloaded it just out of curiosity and now want to get out.

But it’s not that simple.

It turns out that there is currently no way to delete just your Threads account.

That’s because it’s linked to your Instagram account.

According to Meta’s help guide, the only way you can completely delete your Threads account is to delete your Instagram account.

“Your Threads profile is part of your Instagram account and can be deleted at any time by deleting your Instagram account,” it says.

Other ways to refresh your feed

Instagrammers can also clear the Instagram cache in Storage Settings by finding Instagram in the list of apps in Settings and pressing ‘Clear Cache’.

The error could also have appeared because IG thinks you are a bot. To prove you’re real, you can link your Facebook account:

  1. Click on the three lines in the top right corner of your profile page on Instagram
  2. Open “Settings” and select “Account”
  3. Click ‘Share with other apps’ then press ‘Facebook’
  4. Log in with Facebook credentials.

What to do when Instagram is offline

The best thing you can do is restart the app.

Force close Instagram by sliding up and then closing the app so that it closes completely.

See if it loads again.

It could also be a problem with your connection, so see if something else, like a web page, loads for you. If that doesn’t load, there’s a problem with your internet.

And if you’re still having problems after all this, it’s time to find out if you’re on your own.

Search Twitter to see if others are complaining about the same thing.

If you see a bunch of tweets about Instagram going down, you have your answer.

In that case, the only thing you can do is wait until the problem is resolved and check the above options for updates.

Do you need Instagram for Threads?

Threads is an offshoot of Instagram and only Insta users can create an account.

Users may post up to 500 characters of text and up to five minutes of video, links, and images.

The app is linked directly to Instagram and lets you import your profile and friends list.

However, deleting your Threads profile also means deleting your Instagram account, which has led to frustration among early users.

And while the app is tied to Instagram, it offers Twitter-like microblogging.

Can I use Instagram without an account?

No – due to an Instagram update in 2020, you can no longer browse Instagram without logging into the platform.

If you try to view Instagram profiles, posts, or stories, you will automatically be sent to a login page when you try to view Instagram profiles, posts, and stories.
