Safari is the default web browser on iOS for your iPhone.

And if you're not careful, you might reach the 500 tab limit.

This makes it extremely difficult to navigate through your tabs because it is so cluttered.

Luckily, a Reddit user shared a way to close all your tabs at once using a little-known button trick.

In the Reddit wirethey wrote: “After ten years of daily iPhone use, today I discovered that you can close all tabs in Safari for iOS.

“Suffice it to say, I shudder to think of all the times I spent five to ten minutes manually closing a hundred or more tabs by spamming the (x) in the top left corner of each tab.”

Try it: Launch Safari and go to a tab you have open.

Then press and hold the two overlapping squares in the corner.

A pop-up menu will appear with an option to close all tabs (in addition to the number of open tabs) immediately.

You can also access this option by pressing and holding the Done icon on the main tab selection screen.

But there's an even better way to set up Safari.

It's even possible to set Safari to automatically close tabs after a certain number of uses.

One user explained that this means “tabs never bunch up,” keeping your Safari relatively uncluttered.

Another user replied: “Wow, that's even better! Although I'll probably set mine to more than a week.

“Sometimes I use Wikipedia crawls that are 50 tabs deep and they aren't always completed in one day.”

To do this, go to Settings > Safari > Close Tabs – three simple taps.

You can choose from:

  • Manual (the default option)
  • After one day
  • After a week
  • After a month

You may think After One Day is too early, but the weekly or monthly options may be a good idea.

If this functions not appear, make sure you have updated to the latest version of iOS.

To check this, go to Settings > General > Software update.
