If you charge your phone overnight, make sure it is never in bed.

Tech TikTok star Scott Polderman posted a video warning users of official Apple advice on why it’s so dangerous.

“Apple has issued a warning about charging your iPhone overnight,” says Scott said in a viral clip.

“And this caught my attention because I charge my phone overnight, and I think most people do that.

“But the concern is really about where the phone is while charging. It’s important that the phone gets ventilation.

‘And when you have the phone next one connected to the bed and you fall asleep and it’s under the covers or it ends up under your pillow and it’s not getting ventilation, then it can cause injury.”

But that’s not all: the charging cord itself can also hurt you.

If the cord is in the bed, the heat can injure you while you sleep – without you even realizing it.

“The second warning is about the charging cord,” Scott said.

“You don’t want to have prolonged skin contact with the charging cord, especially while you’re sleeping.

‘I can’t believe it,’ say iPhone owners after finding a secret trick to falling asleep, saying it’s ‘the only way I can sleep’

“So the bottom line is you want to make sure your phone isn’t in bed with you.

“Because even the cheap or defective chargers can have problems. But they’ve also seen problems even with the cords that come with your phone, so make sure you don’t have the phone with you in bed.”

APPLE MUMBLE

Apple’s official support memo reflects these warnings.

The company is warning users not to leave their iPhones all over the bed while they’re charging.

It is extremely dangerous and poses a fire hazard even if you use official Apple cables and adapters.

“Do not sleep on a device, power adapter, or wireless charger, or place it under a blanket, pillow, or your body while it is connected to a power source,” Apple explains.

“Keep your iPhone, the power adapter, and any wireless chargers in a well-ventilated area when using or charging them.

Avoid prolonged skin contact with the charging cable and connector when the charging cable is connected to a power source, as this may cause discomfort or injury.

“Sleeping or sitting on the charging cable or connector should be avoided.”

TOO HOT TO HANDLE

iPhone owners responded to Scott’s videos with their own charging errors.

One fan wrote: “I’ve been sleeping with my phone charged on my bed since 2007.”

Another said: “I’ve burned myself before falling asleep with my iPhone running.”

One added: “I accidentally left mine in my bed the other day, woke up three hours later and was under my heating pad and it looked like a branding iron. It’s a miracle it didn’t stick.”

And another commented: “I damn near set my bed on fire! I have a massive burn on my arm from falling asleep on my phone.”
