1166 players to go under the hammer in IPL 2024 mini-auction: report

New Delhi: Less than three weeks away from the Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction for the 2024 season, we already have the list of players who will all go under the hammer on December 19 in Dubai. Reportedly, a total of 1,166 players will be part of the auction, including ICC World Cup 2023 stars in Rachin Ravindra and Travis Head, the hero in the final will take center stage.

Among the 1,166 players, 830 are Indians, of which 336 are foreigners, according to a report by Itch. The list contains only 212 capped players and 909 uncapped. 45 cricketers have registered their names from associated countries.

Only 18 capped India players will be present in the auction. It includes Varun Aaron, KS Bharat, Kedar Jadhav, Siddarth Kaul, Dhawal Kulkarni, Shivam Mavi, Shahbaz Nadeem, Karun Nair, Manish Pandey, Harshal Patel, Chetan Sakariya, Mandeep Singh, Barinder Sran, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Hanuma Vihari, Sandeep Warrier and the experienced Umesh Yadav.

Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav, all recently released by their franchises, will go for a base price of Rs 2 cr. The remaining 14 players will get a base prize of Rs 50 lakhs each.

The report also states that BCCI has asked all franchises to add additional players to the auction if they wish. If the players are interested and eligible, a selection will be made automatically among the already registered players.

The board has also reportedly informed that only 77 slots can be filled and a maximum of 33 cricketers can be abroad.
