At least 14 trains were canceled and many diverted by the Indian Railways as operations were affected after two freight trains collided at Onda railway station in Bankura in West Bengal.

New Delhi: The Indian Railways canceled 14 trains and diverted three trains on Sunday as operations were affected after two freight trains collided at Onda railway station in Bankura in West Bengal. The collision took place on Sunday morning in which several boogies derailed.

“14 trains have been cancelled, three diverted and two briefly halted due to the derailment of a freight train at Adra Division’s Ondagram station,” the South Eastern Railway said in a statement.

How to confirm if your train has been cancelled

  1. Visit indianrail.gov.in/mntes and select the date of the trip
  2. Then select Exceptional trains on the top panel of the screen
  3. Click on the Canceled trains option
  4. Select the Full or Partial option to see the full list of trains with time, routes and other details as per requirements

Reimbursement of train tickets

  • The Indian Railways recently announced that train tickets booked through unauthorized agents or scripting can be released without refund. Passengers must therefore enter the correct mobile number in order to be kept informed of the booked trip in time.
  • The Indian Railways said holders of second class (2S) reserved tickets are advised to check their PNR status (menu ‘Trains’ > ‘PNR request’) before travelling. If holders of reserved 2S tickets receive the PNR status as ‘Itinerary Class Removed/Booking Not Allowed Due to Certain Class for the Route Removed’ on PNR inquiry, they may cancel such tickets to receive a full refund.
  • Train travelers should note that tickets booked through the IRCTC website will be automatically canceled and a refund will be issued to the user’s accounts.
  • Those who have booked tickets through ticket offices will need to visit the reservation desk to claim the refund.
