Is BT Mail offline? Problems, malfunctions and errors explained

BT Mail customers are unable to log into their accounts today due to a mysterious glitch.

Nearly a thousand reports were picked up by the Down Detector website around 9 a.m. on Friday.

It is not yet clear whether the problem is widespread or isolated.

And BT has yet to reveal the cause.

Customers have flooded social media in an attempt to find out what is going on.

“Can’t log in and neither can many other people. I need it for work today,” wrote a user on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Is BT email offline?

Judging from Down Detector, it appears that BT’s email system is currently down.

According to screenshots shared by affected users, a pop-up message will appear that reads: “We’re experiencing issues with this service, please try again later.”

Many people have tweeted BT via its @bt_uk account for answers.

“@bt_uk please address this as soon as possible – many people are reporting issues online with their #BTemails inaccessible this morning – please make a statement if there are any known issues?” wrote one.

“What’s going on? Another feature of the new ‘upgrade’ to email?” said another.

How can I check if BT email is unavailable?

One of the direct ways to find out if BT mail is down for everyone (and not just you) is to check social media like X, formerly known as Twitter.

BT can also post updates to its own X account, where you can check them @bt_nl.
