Three-time Oscar-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis may be coming out of retirement after seven years, with the actor spotted leaving a meeting with Steven Spielberg and Jim Sheridan.

The 66-year-old actor, one of only three performers in history to earn three acting Oscars, was seen leaving a meeting with Spielberg and Sheridan in New York City on Wednesday.

The actor had announced his retirement in 2017, although he did not want to give an exact reason why he retired.

Day-Lewis earned his first Oscar under Sheridan in 1989’s My Left Foot, while his second coming for Paul Thomas Anderson and Spielberg’s 2007 film There Will Be Blood led him to his third in 2012’s Lincoln.

There’s no indication what exactly the meeting was about, although both filmmakers have a number of projects in the works.

Day-Lewis was seen leaving the meeting wearing a tan jacket and blue shirt, along with black stockings and glasses.

He also wore matching brown pants and brown boots for the meeting, which took place at Spielberg’s office in New York City.

Spielberg was decked out in a navy blue sweater with a matching baseball cap and puffer jacket.

He completed his look with dark blue jeans and light blue sneakers for the meeting with Day-Lewis and Sheridan.

Sheridan also pulled off an all-navy blue look with a sweater, trench coat and pants with black shoes.

Spielberg has a number of projects in development, possibly projects in which Day-Lewis would like to star.

Spielberg is attached to direct an untitled biopic based on the character Steve McQueen played in the 1968 classic Bullitt, although Bradley Cooper is attached to star as McQueen.

He is also developing The Thursday Murder Club, which follows four friends living in a retirement community who all solve cold cases for fun.

Their skills are put to the test when a property developer is found dead while trying to solve their first real crime.

It’s possible he’s being sought out to retire from that project – which ironically follows retired characters – although that has yet to be confirmed.

As for Sheridan, he signed on to write and direct in April I Am a Man: The True Story of Chief Standing Bear.

The film follows the Trail of Tears march that led to the historic trial of Standing Bear against the United States of America in 1879.
