Jacob Elordi has been flattered by rumors that he could be the next James Bond.
“That’s wonderful,” Elordi, 26, said of the 007 buzz during a Monday, November 20, interview with Additional. “I just like the fact that people might want to put me in their movies. That really makes me happy.”
Elordi is one of several A-listers said to be in the running to be replaced Daniel Craigwho last portrayed the MI6 intelligence officer during No time to die in September 2021. It has also been speculated Regé-Jean Page, Idris Elba And Developer Patel take up the mantle.
Only time will tell whether or not Elordi will step into the shoes once Craig, 55, Pierce Brosnan And Sean Connery. However, the actor recently took on another major role: that of Elvis Presley in the biographical film Priscilla.
During an interview with Vanity fair published shortly after the film’s release in October, writer and director Sofia Coppola commented how impressed the real one was Priscilla Presley was due to Elordi’s actions.
“When we first watched the film with Priscilla, what struck her most was how loud his voice sounded [her late ex-husband] Elvis. So that was a big sensation,” said Coppola, 52.
Elordi said Priscilla’s approval was “a great relief.” The Euphoria actor talked more about the role during an appearance in October The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He admitted that playing the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll was “a bit terrifying”, but said working with Coppola was “pure bliss”.
Elordi does not look back fondly on all his acting projects. During an interview with GQ earlier this month he recalled feeling “dead inside” while working on the film Kissing position trilogy.
“I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies,” he told the outlet. “Those movies are ridiculous. They are not universal. They are an escape.” Despite his feelings, Elordi emphasized that he is incredibly grateful to “everyone” involved in the films
One of Elordi’s former costars Taylor Zakhar Perezwho played Marco Valentin Peña in both Kissing position sequels, responded to the comments during an interview on Friday, November 17 with Variety.
“I thought it was a shame because as far as I know everyone else had such a great experience,” Perez, 31, said. “It’s a shame that that was the case [Jacob’s] experience. Especially when those films came out, it was a time when we really needed something like that.”
Elordi has been candid about his thoughts on the Kissing position franchise in the past. “I had to prove that I was a serious actor,” he said Esquire in 2021, noting that he felt “corny” and “terribly misunderstood” because of films he had made in the past.
