LeT Terror Module Busted in Kashmir’s Kulgam; 4 detained, weapons cache seized

Four terror associates were arrested and a cache of arms and ammunition seized as security forces nabbed a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.

Jammu Kashmir News: Security on Sunday busted a terror module of banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), arresting four terrorists and seizing a cache of arms and ammunition from the suspects in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Security forces arrested four terrorist associates and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession in South Kashmir district, a police spokesperson said, adding that the arrests were made in connection with case FIR No. 14/2024 registered under various sections of the Unlawful Crime Prevention Act activities.

The arrested terrorist associates have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Pandit, Basir Hussain Pandit, Imtiyaz Gull and Gulzar Ahmad Khar, all residents of Wanpora in Kulgam district.

One pistol, two magazines, 20 pistol bullets, four UBGs and 24 INSAS bullets were recovered from their possession, the spokesperson said.

Further investigations are underway as more arrests and recoveries are expected in the case, police added.

NIA seizes cash, seizes property in Handwara narco-terror case

In related news, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday said it has seized the properties of four suspects in a narco-terrorism case linked to banned terror groups LeT and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen in Handwara town of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.

The counter-terror agency has also seized a cash amount of Rs 2.27 crore in connection with the case, officials said on Saturday.

“The properties attached to it are the two-storey house of suspect Afaq Ahmad Wani, the one-storey house of suspect Muneer Ahmad Pandey, the house of Saleem Andrabi and the two-storey house of Islam ul Haq,” said the NIA in a statement. statement issued Saturday.

It said the agency’s sleuths also seized a total of Rs 2.27 crore in cash under Section 25 of the UA(P) Act.

Twelve suspects have been arrested so far

Officials said 12 persons have been arrested so far in connection with the narco-terror case linked to Hizb and Lashkar terrorist groups, adding that the NIA has charged 15 suspects in the case.

“The case (RC 03/2020/NIA/JMU) pertains to the use of ‘proceeds of narcotics’ to finance violent terror activities by LeT and Hizbul operating in the Handwara-Kupwara region,” the official said .
