Jana Kramer gives birth to her third child, her first with Allan Russell

Jan Kramer and her fiancé, Allan Russellwelcomed their first child together on Monday, November 13.

“Allan and I are both overjoyed and truly grateful to announce the birth of our son, Roman James Russell. We feel blessed to have had the opportunity to create something so special together,” the couple said in a statement People on Tuesday, November 14.

They continued, “The name Roman isn’t actually inspired by anyone, it’s just a strong name that we both love, but James (his middle name) was both our grandfather’s name so that was a nod to them.”

The One Tree Hill alum, 39, and the former pro athlete, 42, confirmed they were expecting a baby in June, nearly two weeks after their engagement.

“We’ve kept another secret from you (I promise this will be the last announcement… at least for a while 🤣) but I’m pregnant!!!!” Writing via Instagram at the time, Kramer shared a photo of the couple holding up a positive pregnancy test. “Extremely blessed and grateful to have this baby part of our story.”

While the Michigan native and Norwich FC coach — who shares a 16-year-old son from a previous relationship — was eager to expand their family, Kramer feared fertility issues.

“It was a shock. I didn’t think I could get pregnant,” she admitted during an episode of her podcast “Whine Down,” noting that her past miscarriages made her worry about carrying a pregnancy to term. “[Allan] had asked me, ‘Do you want to have another baby?’ He [was] the first person I thought to: ‘With you, yes, I would.’ And then I remember being upset and saying, “I just don’t think I could do that.” I’m like, “If you really want one, I might not be your girl because I don’t know if I can physically carry a baby again.”

Kramer – who has daughter Jolie (7) and son Jace (4) with his ex-husband Mike Caussin – revealed in 2018 that she had suffered multiple miscarriages before Jace arrived.

“My body has been going through so many hormonal changes and I thought, ‘There are so many women feeling this way right now and they feel alone too,’” says the Football mom ma’am actress exclusively told We weekly that’s allowed. “It’s frustrating, but what I’ve realized is that having a baby is truly a miracle and it’s all in God’s timing and hands. If it is meant to be that way, it will be that way.”

Kramer and Caussin, 36, eventually split in April 2021 due to alleged infidelity on the former footballer’s part. The ‘Story’ singer later moved on with Russell, which she publicly revealed in January 2023.

“I’ve definitely found my person,” Kramer said exclusively Us the following April. ‘He’s incredible. He’s just very safe,” Kramer said Us. ‘I’m just different with him. I am calmer. And again, I’ve never felt safe in a relationship and it’s just – it’s really nice to feel that.”

She continued, “For me, being in a relationship used to equal happiness, and I ended that relationship last year before I even met [Allan]. I thought, ‘Okay, I have to be happy with myself or I’ll never be happy because a friend can’t make me happy. A husband can’t make me happy.’ … I ended up in a good place – and then luck came too.”

After six months of dating, Russell proposed to the “I Got the Boy” singer shortly before Jolie spilled the beans to Caussin via FaceTime.

“She says, ‘Guess what, Dad? Mommy is engaged! ” Kramer recalled during an episode of her podcast in May 2023. “And he says, ‘Ah, that’s nice.’ I would have liked to tell him, but I also don’t want Jolie to have to keep secrets from her father.”

She continued: “He said, ‘Hey, I’m really happy for you. Allan is a great guy.’ Actually, I started crying because he said, “Of all people, you deserve to have someone who loves and respects you, and you deserve this.” He says, “After everything I’ve done to you, you deserve this more than anyone.” It meant so much to me that he said that.”
