Joker sequel salary revealed: Joaquin Phoenix will get $20 million to reprise his role, while Lady Gaga will take home $12 million to play Harley Quinn in the upcoming film

Stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga's alleged salaries for the highly anticipated Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, have bone revealed in a new one Variety report.

Sources tell the channel this Phoenix will be paid $20 million to reprise his role as Arthur Fleck, aka Joker, in the sequel to Todd Phillips' 2019 film.

He was originally paid $4.5 million to play the iconic Batman villain and later won the Oscar for Best Actor.

For Lady Gaga signs on as Joker's love interest Dr. Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, WArner Bros. reportedly spent $12 million.

The sequel cIt takes place five years after Joker grossed $1 billion at the worldwide box office despite its R-rating.

WArner Bros. has reportedly spent nearly $200 million on the sequel – more than double Joker's $60 million production budget.

Unlike Joker, the sequel is a musical film – a 'tricky' genre with its own box office challenges.

Recently, Warner Bros. lost. $40 million with the film adaptation of The Color Purple starring Taraji P. Henson and Fantasia Barrino. It reportedly cost $100 million to produce.

The latest Joker 2 reveals come a week after director Phillips showed fans Gaga and Phoenix as their characters in new promo stills from the film.

'I hope your day is full of love. 10.4.24,” Phillips wrote as the caption to the Valentine's Day post for his approximately 644,000 followers.

Joker: Folie à Deux is expected to be released on October 4, 2024 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Phillips included along with the photos a dateline of Gotham City, the fictional city in DC Comics best known as the home of superhero Batman.

The main photo showed Phoenix in full Joker makeup, wearing a red suit as he stood next to Gaga as Harley, who also wore white face paint.

In a black and white photo, Joker and a smiling Dr. Quinzel can be seen touching noses while separated by prison bars.

Harley Quinn was created for Batman: The Animated Series, which first aired on Fox Kids in September 1992 as Joker's sidekick and love interest, and the character later appeared in the pages of DC Comics in 1999.

Her comic book origin story involves Dr. Harleen Quinzel as a psychiatrist at Gotham City's Arkham Asylum who falls in love with her patient, the Joker, and becomes his lover and accomplice while assuming the identity of Harley Quinn.

A third black and white photo showed Joker and Harley dancing on a rooftop under a giant full moon.

Phillips also shared promotional images of Gaga and Phoenix on Instagram in December.

The 2019 Joker film, which Phillips directed and co-wrote with 59-year-old Scott Silver, ended with the Joker being treated at Arkham after he committed murder and caused a deadly riot.

Gaga starred in the 2018 film A Star Is Born, becoming the first woman in history to win an Academy Award, Grammy Award, BAFTA Award and Golden Globe Award in one year for her acting and soundtrack contributions.

Joker: Folie à Deux also stars Zazie Beetz, 32, who will reprise her role of Sophie Dumond from the first film.
