Kacey Musgraves Hints That Ex Has 'Dark Energy' In New Song

Kacey Musgraves seemingly threw shade at a former ex in her new song “Deeper Well.”

“So I say goodbye to the people who I think could very well be wasting my time,” Musgraves, 35, sings in the new song. “No regrets, baby, I just think / You're going your way and I'm going mine / It was a really good time / But you got dark energy, something I can't hide / And I gotta take care of myself.”

While dropping the title track and music video on Thursday, February 8, the country singer also announced that her fifth LP, Deeper goodwill be released on Friday, March 15.

“It is a collection of songs that are very dear to me,” Musgraves wrote via Instagram next to the album cover. “I hope it will find a home in your hearts too.”

Elsewhere in 'Deeper Well', Musgraves says that 'everything started to change' when she turned 27, which would have been in 2015.

Sparrows met Ruston Kelly in 2016, and the pair tied the knot the following year. In July 2020, Musgraves and Kelly, 35, announced their separation and finalized their divorce two months later.

After the divorce, Musgraves admitted that she “could have waited a few more years,” but the coronavirus pandemic forced her to “face the truth” and ask herself tough questions.
