Kelsea Ballerini reflects on the ‘Healing’ year with a nod to Chase Stokes
Kelsea Ballerini rolls up the welcome mat for the year 2023.
“Three hundred and sixty-five days,” Ballerini, 30, began into her Instagram post on Sunday December 31st. “Screaming on stages and they end up shouting back. Have the skin replaced with sequins. Sleepless nights that bring new dreams, in a small new old house with defiantly pink walls.”
The “Half of My Hometown” singer shared a black and white photo of herself sipping a cup of coffee while sitting at a table in front of the Eiffel Tower. Ballerini posed in a bathrobe with her hair wrapped in a towel and sunglasses.
In her lengthy caption, Ballerini wrote about getting advice from a chef to “honor the taste of the ocean” and “learn the damn difference” between “stretching for height, and not squirming for approval.”
“Following the breadcrumbs of life towards the next good thing, and still sometimes going wrong,” she continued. “Sometimes things still go well. To cry. So much crying. Mottled cheeks in the presence of strangers, throaty exhalations to those who are safest.
Ballerini reflected on “healing the past and falling in love in the present, which happens in lockstep,” adding that they “unabashedly exist in the art of starting over.”
“Hating airports and a house on wheels, the exhaustion that outweighs being there, the guilt of knowing I’m lucky should trump everything,” she wrote. “Then get halfway through the set at 2:13 of number three and wake up again. Every time.”
The “Hole in the Bottle” singer noted that she “pays less attention to the fit of the jeans, respecting the life that causes them to be tight or have a hole in the waist.” She added that she “writes music like nothing is off limits, earning my artistic freedom” and “never lets that paint dry.”

After her divorce, Ballerini has been linked to Chase Stokes after taking her photo in his Instagram DMs. The couple was first spotted together at the College Football Playoff National Championship in Los Angeles in January and has since opened up about their admiration for each other.
“[Kelsea] is literally the best person on earth,” says the Outdoor benches star, 31, flowed to Entertainment weekly earlier this month. “Every day together is a comedy show or a life conversation that I didn’t know I needed and that ultimately is something I will never forget. I just love the girl so much and I’m so damn proud of her.”
