Geoffrey Lyons, of Dallas, recently took to TikTok with a clip exploring the cost breakdown for the main character’s trip to the grocery store in the hit 1990 film.
The content creator studied the products in Kevin’s shopping cart before adding up the amount in the current economic climate.
He was stunned to discover that the price was almost 3.5 times what it was before – and viewers were left speechless.

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 4.4 million times so far, Geoffrey reenacts the popular scene.
Eight-year-old Kevin prowls the aisles in an attempt to fend for himself after his family accidentally leaves him at home after flying to Paris for their Christmas holidays.
Comments, Geoffrey begins, “Okay, some of you have asked me how much Kevin McCallister spent that day comparison with today?
“And what would it cost if he went to the store today?”
The social media star details all the items Kevin takes to the checkout.
‘TV dinner, you got the Wonder Bread, the frozen Mac and cheese, Saran wrap, a pint of milk, Tide, a pint of orange juice, [toy] army soldiers, the Snuggle dryer sheets,” he lists.
Kevin presents a coupon at checkout that gives him $1 off before the cashier reveals his total is $19.83.
Geoffrey then flips to his computer screen where he has broken down the full costs.
He scrolls down the list before asking, “Wwhat does that come down to? The total amount of $63.73. Add the tax – $5.25 – and when you add that up, you get $68.99.”
The content creator said that after using a dollar coupon the total is $68 – almost 3.5 times the original cost due to inflation and the rising cost of living.
