Their family raised eyebrows in June after Ming wrote a Father’s Day tribute to Kimora without naming Russell, 66, who then apparently claimed his ex-wife had interfered in his parental relationship.

“My father is not doing well, he has needed help for years and will not accept his refusal to acknowledge that he is not himself,” Aoki said via a since-deleted Instagram post, accusing Russell of verbal abuse. “He’s threatened and bullied my sister and my grandmother… He lashes out at ANYONE who doesn’t say, ‘Ooh Russell, everything’s fine.’ Well, it’s not good.”

While Russell fervently denied the allegations before apologizing to his daughters, Kimora had the support of Ming and Aoki. To this day, Aoki has no “regrets” about speaking out.

“Some of it was already there. There were reasons why I thought it was reasonable to publish, because it was in a kind of silent bubble,” she said Teen fashion in a profile from September, in which they emphasize that despite the public drama, they have a “normal family.”
