Why shoppers are rejecting this popular purchase at Kmart Australia: 'How did I miss this detail?'

Kmart shoppers are furious after claiming they were 'cheated' after buying a popular item, but others are defending the 'dreamy' purchase.

Jesse, from Perth, was ecstatic when she discovered the 'perfect' table lamp at Kmart.

The purchase featured a pink glass base with a magical light bulb on top, adding an aesthetic touch to any living space.

But Jesse was shocked when the purchase only included the pink base and not the LED fairy lights, despite it being pictured on the box – and she feared she had bought a defective one.

“So in the box there was just the pink base and I bought this light bulb. Does anyone know how to get that top part in a photo? There's nothing else in the box, I don't know if I'm missing something obvious.'

Although the box says “globe not included,” Jesse thought this meant she only needed to purchase a regular bulb to provide lighting.

But many on Facebook pointed out that the image on the lamp's box included a photo of Kmart's Fairy Globe ($12), which is sold separately.

“I thought the lamp would fit in that glass top section, not realizing that this was a globe in itself!” Jesse said.

A few Aussies said Bunnings and other retailers were also selling similar 'fairy balls'.

Many turned away from Kmart, blaming the store for their own mistake.

'Wow, that 'Globe Not Included' is nicely tucked away, isn't it – what a joke!' said one, referring to the small text at the bottom of the lamp box.

“Although the box says the globe is not included, it feels deceptive because it is not a standard globe and gives the impression that the fancy globe is part of the lamp,” one mother wrote.

'I did the same! I didn't know anything about the globe,” said another.

“Take it back and get your money back,” one angry man advised.

But some didn't see the problem with having to buy the globe separately.

A man said: 'The box tells you what's inside. It is rare that a lamp already has a globe.'

“Kmart sells the globe as well as other globes to mix and match,” another noted. 'It says on the box that the globe is not included.'
