Kyle Richards explains that Mauricio Umansky was divided over the purchase of Beverly Hills

“[Our decision to separate] happened after we finished filming [season 13]”, Richards, 55, detailed Amazon Livewhich was streamed on Thursday, February 29. “[Then] the story broke and then the Netflix cameras happened to be in Aspen.

Richards said she made an effort to document key moments for RHOBH after filming wrapped.
Many celebrity splits have rocked Hollywood over the years, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, as well as Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. “It’s clear that Bravo has been following my life for thirteen years. It’s not like they can film that scene [for Buying Beverly Hills] and then I don’t share it with The Housewives viewers,” she noted. “We ended up shooting both scenes for Buying Beverly Hills and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after we all wrapped up.”
We weekly originally confirmed Richards and Umansky’s divorce in July 2023. During season 13 of RHOBHRichards hinted at problems in her marriage, but it wasn’t until the scenes picked up in the finale that viewers saw the couple talk candidly about their decision to split.
“Things happened that made me lose my confidence and that I couldn’t recover from,” Richards said on the Feb. 21 episode. “It felt like my whole life was over at that moment. Life as I knew it.”

Buy Beverly Hillswhich focuses on Umansky’s real estate company, has released several clips that indicate the split is a major storyline.
“I had 26 wonderful years with your mother. An amazing 26 years. I wanted to do everything I could to just make it. So your mother came and she talked to me. And she said, ‘I think I need space,'” Umansky, 53, told his and Richards’ children, Farrah, 35, Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15, in the first official look to buy season 2 of Beverly Hills.
He continued: “She said to me, ‘Listen, the rules are that you go out, you date, you do whatever you want. I’m not going to ask you what you do. I don’t want you to ask me what I’m doing. Like we’re separated.’”
After news of their divorce broke, Umansky and Richards denied in a joint statement that infidelity played a role in their decision. Richards noted on Amazon Live on Thursday that the couple is now allowed to date other people.
“That’s a big question. We’re allowed to do that,” says Richards, who denies having a relationship with her boyfriend, the country singer Morgan Wade added. “We can do whatever we want.”
According to Richards, there have also been discussions about leaving their shared home. “Yes, that’s a conversation that’s happening,” she said. “We’re lucky that we don’t fight and we get along well, so it actually works strangely enough.”
