Kylie Minogue and Michael Hutchence's 'love nest' in Sydney goes under the hammer for $3.3 million

A beautiful Sydney apartment, once home to Kylie Minogue and the late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence for sale.

Kylie, 55, and Michael lived together in the luxury two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in the late '80s and early '90s.

The property, priced at $3.3 million, is located in the iconic The Connaught building in Sydney's CBD and overlooks Hyde Park.

The apartment offers beautiful views of the harbour, with the living room opening onto a spacious north-facing balcony towards the Opera House.

The Connaught has been home to several celebrities over the years, including entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins, film critic Margaret Pomeranz, singer Barry Crocker and journalist Jana Wendt.

Completed in 1984, it was one of the first high-rise buildings in Sydney.

The apartment's current owners, Gavin Holland and Kelly McNamara, speculated that the property would have played host to a number of lively parties.

'I know there was a lot of socializing going on at that time, for lack of a better word. Suicides, murders, famous and infamous people have happened in this building – all sorts of things,” Holland told Newscorp.

The owners said the rooftop pool and jacuzzi were recently renovated, adding to the apartment's appeal.

They also praised the beautiful view.

“Kylie and Michael would also have enjoyed being together on the balcony and on New Year's Eve,” Holland said.

Kylie and Michael dated for two years, from 1989 to 1991, and remained close friends until his death in 1997.

Michael committed suicide in a Sydney hotel room at the age of 37.

In 2015, Kylie discussed their relationship during an interview on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.

“He was a wild guy, he was the rocker, he was all that. But I always try to say: he was Byron-esque, he was poetic, he was cultured, hilarious and tender,” the pop star reflected.

“I think I was at the perfect age, I was 21 years old, to get the butterfly wings and go out into the world, and we collided at that moment and I think he just accelerated some of it. '

“It was a glorious time anyway. I loved it,” Kylie added.

The 'love nest' that the Australian music couple lived in during their time together will be auctioned on February 28.

According to PropTrack, the average apartment price for Sydney CBD is $1.13 million, reflecting a decline of 2.5 per cent over the past year.
