Last date for submitting applications under National Funds Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme extended to December 31

NMMSS scholarships are disbursed directly to selected students’ bank accounts via electronic funds transfer.

NMMSS 2023-24: The last date for submitting applications for NMMSS for the year 2023-24 is December 31, 2023. Under the ‘National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme’, scholarships are awarded to deserving students from economically weaker sections to cover their dropout in class VIII and encourage them to continue their education in high school. A fresh scholarship of one lakh is awarded every year to selected students of class IX and its continuation/extension in classes X to XII for students studying in government schools, government aided schools and local institutions. The amount of the scholarship is Rs. 12000/- per annum.

The National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) has been listed on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – a central platform for scholarships for students. NMMSS scholarships will be disbursed directly to the bank accounts of selected students through electronic fund transfer through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) under DBT mode. This is a central sector scheme.

Students whose parental income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 3,50,000/- per year are eligible to avail the scholarships. The students must obtain minimum 55% marks or equivalent in the Class VII examination to appear in the selection test for award of scholarship (to be relaxed by 5% for SC/ST students).

There are two levels of verification: L1 is the Institute Nodal Officer (INO) level and L2 is the District Nodal Officer (DNO) level. The last date for verification at INO level (L1) is January 15, 2024 and for verification at DNO level (L2) is January 30, 2024.
