A MAKEUP artist has shared a dupe she found for a cult-favorite $52 foundation.
The inclusive beauty dupe included a larger color range and was also $22 cheaper.
Monica (@makeupbymonicaa) shared the beauty deal in a TikTok video.
“I’m about to tease everyone who bought the viral Laura Mercier foundation,” she said.
“You’re going to hate me for what I’m about to say.
“What if I told you there is potentially a more affordable alternative that actually has shades and looks almost exactly the same?”
She explained that she had a moment of realization after a cosmetic chemist revealed that Laura Mercier’s foundation was neither water-based nor silicone-based.
“The first ingredient in Laura Mercier is isododecane, which is actually a volatile oil, so it’s basically an oil-based foundation,” she said.
When she first reviewed the Laura Mercier foundation, it reminded her of the Rare Beauty foundation.
Upon checking, she discovered that the dupew was also isododecane and oil-based.

“The texture of these two is very similar, but the Rare Beauty is $22 cheaper and has a much better color range for the black and brown girls,” she said.
She tested the two foundations on either side of her face.
“As you can see, it starts to fade and look the same because of that isododecane,” she said.
People agreed that the fundamentals look identical after seeing her demo.
“It looks the same and the shade suits you perfectly,” said one commenter.
“Thank you. I bought Laura Mercier’s, it turned me so orange. And I couldn’t find a match. Ridiculous!” said another.
