DC vs UPW, WPL 2024 cricket highlights: UP Warriorz turned the tide in a nail-biting match and blew the race for the play-offs wide open after their one-point win over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday.
Warriorz hung on by the barest thread of hope, defying the odds and snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, leaving DC desolate. UP managed to defend the lowest total in WPL history and neutralize skipper Meg Lanning’s heroic 60(46).
Apart from Lanning, no other player could get the full score while chasing an under-par total of 139. After starring with the bat, Deepti Sharma took a four-wicket haul, including the wicket of Lanning.
Pacer Saima Thakor provided the ideal backup by dismissing in-form batters including Shafali Verma (15) and Jemimah Rodrigues (17). DC still had hopes of achieving victory with 10 runs needed in the final. Radha Yadav hit a six on the first ball, tipping the balance in DC’s favour.
But Grace Harris, who did not bowl a single over in the match, hit back to take two wickets and a run-out in the next four balls, giving UPW a famous one-run victory.
