‘Avoid controversies, convince people’: PM Modi to the Council of Ministers before the polls

Prime Minister Modi asked his ministerial colleagues to make every effort to win people’s support during the polls as he spoke about numerous measures taken by his government to boost development and promote the well-being of all sections of society to ensure.

Lok Sabha elections 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence that he would return to power for the third time in a row and gave a simple but powerful message to his Council of Ministers. “Go and win. I will see you soon,” Modi told his ministers after chairing a day-long meeting with them on Sunday.

Prime Minister Modi chaired a meeting of his Council of Ministers as they brainstormed the vision document for “Viksit Bharat: 2047” and a detailed action plan for the next five years.

Avoid controversies and deepfakes

Citing sources, NDTV reported that the Prime Minister asked his ministers to remain cautious and vigilant in dealing with people, especially during elections. Addressing his ministers for almost an hour, Modi urged them to stay away from controversies and be careful with deepfakes, the report said.

“Be careful before you make statements. Nowadays there is a trend of deepfake where voice etc can be changed, be careful with this,” the NDTV report quoted the Prime Minister as saying by a source.

Prime Minister Modi asked the ministers not to make controversial statements and only speak about the government’s plans and programmes.

100-day agenda after new government formation

According to a PTI report, the meeting debated a 100-day agenda for immediate steps to be taken after a new government is formed in May for its early implementation.

The Prime Minister asked his ministerial colleagues to make every effort to win popular support during the elections, as he spoke of the numerous measures his government had taken to boost development and promote the well-being of all sections of society to ensure.

Government sources said the roadmap for “Viksit Bharat” is the result of more than two years of intensive preparation and included a “whole of government” approach involving all ministries, and extensive consultations with state governments, academia, industry bodies, civil society , scientific organizations and mobilization of young people for input.

“More than 2,700 meetings, workshops and seminars have been held at various levels. Suggestions have been received from over 20 lakh youth,” an official said, according to news agency PTI.

‘Viksit Bharat’ Roadmap

The roadmap for ‘Viksit Bharat’ has a comprehensive blueprint with clearly articulated national vision, aspirations, objectives and action points, the sources said, adding that the objectives include areas like economic growth, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ease of living, ease of business, infrastructure and social well-being.

Several ministries put forward their ideas at the meeting, which is likely to be the last meeting before the Lok Sabha polls are announced.

Presentations on various topics were also given during the meeting.

The prime minister had previously asked his cabinet colleagues to come up with “actionable, measurable and clearly defined plans” for the new government.

Modi has repeatedly expressed confidence that his government will retain power for a third consecutive term and has set a target of winning 370 seats for the BJP and more than 400 for the ruling alliance led by his party in the Lok Sabha polls .
