Love Island’s Davide Sanclimenti gives a glimpse of girlfriend Ekin-Su Culculoglu’s romantic birthday surprise as the couple celebrate in the Alps

Davide Sanclimenti gave fans a glimpse into the specially decorated room girlfriend Ekin-Su Culculoglu prepared for his birthday as they celebrated his 29th birthday in the Italian Alps.

Former Love Island star Davide shared on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday a clip filmed as he walked around the room, with red rose petals scattered on the floor and heart-shaped balloons floating around.

Ekin-Su, also 29, had arranged the petals to read ‘Happy Birthday Davide’, with a path leading to the bedroom of their suite at the Chalet Al Foss Alp Resort in Vermiglio, in Davide’s home country of Italy.

Shiny red balloons could be seen near the bed and bath, as Davide spun around to give his followers a view of the snow-capped mountains outside the window.

He captioned his post: “The anniversary continues on the other side of the Alps.”

Davide turned 29 on New Year’s Day on Monday and the television personality shared some snaps of himself on Instagram posing with his skis on the slopes.

He wrapped up warm in a blue jacket and black pants, looking messy with his hair after taking off his crash helmet.

The reality star also shared a photo of herself as a child on the slopes, while another showed him posing with a birthday cake from years ago.

He captioned his post: “Count the tops of the mountain, there are 29.”

It comes after Davide insisted he never split from girlfriend Ekin-Su, despite the couple very publicly announcing their split in June after 11 months.

Discussing their relationship in a recent interview with OK!, Davide revealed: ‘When we ‘split’ we were still talking. To be honest, we never really broke up; we always kept in touch.

“But looking back now, I think the breakup helped us both understand each other better. We have more understanding for each other.’

Explaining their reasoning, he continued: ‘We were coming off a TV show, we had a lot of stress and pressure from the audience – which is very difficult when you’re in a relationship.’

Previously, Davide revealed that his relationship with Ekin-Su had broken down after they disagreed on several issues and that a temporary separation was ‘necessary’.

‘It is a wonderful feeling to be at Ekin. We probably broke up more publicly, but never privately, because we have always been in touch and the love between me and Ekin has always been there,” he shared The sun.

‘Breakups can happen to people, but it never really happened to us. We never really broke up privately, it was more to do with public pressure and we had a rough few months.”

The couple set tongues wagging when, not long after their split, they were spotted leaving the ITV summer party together in July.

They were spotted getting into the same taxi, but they decided to keep their newfound romance a secret during that time.

Davide explained why the couple wanted to keep their relationship on the back burner, claiming there were some things they needed to work on before going public again.

He added: “Of course there were some things we both wanted to work on. Neither I nor Ekin were perfect in the relationship and probably needed a little more communication. Now I don’t regret that nothing happened, because I feel stronger and I feel like we understand each other.’

Davide said he feels like they have become stronger since reuniting and that everything “happens for a reason.”

At the time of their split, Davide took to Instagram to announce their split.

It happened just days after the couple attended the premiere of Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny together.

Davide wrote: ‘Ekin-Su and I are no longer together. I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and I wish her nothing but the best.

‘I would like everyone to respect this decision at this difficult time. I will continue to support Ekin no matter what.”

Ekin-Su and Davide were crowned Love Island winners in 2022 after a turbulent romance.

Sources also claimed that the couple jetted off for a make-or-break trip to Amsterdam but struggled to get their relationship back on track.

A source said The sun: ‘They haven’t been getting along for a while and they really tried their best to make it work, but despite their best efforts, they decided to call it quits.’

Davide also hinted that his relationship with Ekin-Su was on the rocks when he posted a shirtless photo in which he hinted that he might be heading back to the Love Island villa.

He captioned his post: “Guess who’s coming back.”

It comes after Davide admitted earlier this year that he and Ekin-Su were having ‘struggles’ with their relationship.

In April, Ekin-Su was reportedly left ‘seething and upset’ after finding messages and photos of two models on Davide’s phone.

The Italian businessman spoke candidly about their relationship in an interview with The sunin which he reflected on the reality of their lives in the spotlight.

He said: “Me and Ekin-Su had our problems because of our public views and sometimes we still have them.

“If there’s anything I would change or do differently [with Ekin-Su in the villa] maybe I would have taken it a little easier.’

Davide went on to say that despite this, the couple is still in the throes of romance, especially since they come from “the same background.”

“The best thing about dating Ekin-Su is that we understand each other – not just because we’re literally the same person,” he continued. “She’s my copy-paste.”
