But it is Littler who is now setting the darts world on fire, with the 17-year-old sensation making a meteoric rise since his World Cup final earlier this year.

The Nuke earned £200,000 from that event alone and has already earned a pretty penny from his time in the Premier League and the World Series.

This weekend he gets the chance to add the £110,000 up for grabs for the UK Open winner to his bulging wallet.

But ahead of the tournament, Darts icon Dennis Priestley has warned that Littler will need longevity at the top if he is to earn more than Taylor has in his career.

Speak with OLBGhe said: “Whether Luke will earn as much as Phil, I’m not sure.

“Taylor must have won around £12 million. If Littler wants to earn that amount he will need to be at the top of his game for fifteen years to match that.”

That could scupper Littler’s early retirement plans, with the teenager previously revealing he wants to leave the cork after 10-15 years.

And Priestley has called on the PDC to help Littler manage his money if he really wants to call it quits after a short spell at the top.

He said: “If Luke Littler really wants to retire from darts in 10 to 15 years’ time, then looking after his money is exactly what he needs to do.

“It all depends on the people around him and how they will invest his huge profits.

It may be little too early for Littler to start thinking seriously about retirement.

The star seems to have plenty to give and has been in electric form since early 2024.

He won the Players Championship 1 earlier this month and also came out on top in the Middle East at the Bahrain Masters.

While he continues to impress with his darts in the Premier League so far.
