LUSH is giving away free products on World Sleep Day on Friday, but there’s a big catch

This Friday, March 15, is World Sleep Day – an annual celebration of sleep and a call to action, raising awareness of all the issues surrounding snoozing.

According to Nuffield Health’s Healthier Nation Index 2023, Brits get an average of just 5.91 hours of sleep per night, with just 36% of British adults rating their sleep as ‘good’.

To help more of the country get enough beauty sleep, LUSH UK is giving away one of its best-selling lavender-scented products: the Sleepy Body Lotion.

The dreamy product went viral and sold out in 2017 after people on social media forums raved about the cream, which is packed with lavender oil, tonka absolute and ylang ylang oil.

The cosmetic brand sells an average of one Sleepy Body Lotion per minute, and the factory staff hand-makes more than 1 million jars per year.

The dreamy product went viral and sold out in 2017 after people on social media forums raved about the cream, which is packed with lavender oil, tonka absolute and ylang ylang oil.

However, for those looking to get their hands on the popular freebie, there’s a catch: you’ll have to go to the store in your pajamas.

Anyone over the age of 18 who comes to the store wearing PJ’s during store opening hours on March 15 will receive a free 45 gram jar of body lotion.

The deal is open to all of Great Britain (except Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) participating stores – If you’re not sure if your local store is participating, give them a call or email before you go down.

Once you’re comfortable, speak to a member of the team in store to claim the free goodie.

The body lotion usually retails for £10 (95g), £20 (215g) or £34 (440g).

Originally intended as a limited edition, Lush received so many customer requests that it kept the Sleepy Body Lotion on permanently, and has since expanded the relaxing scent to 16 different products, including a soap, shower gel and pillow spray – which it also became famous months later for same reason.

The lotion is filled with oat milk, organic illipe butter and Fairtrade organic cocoa butter to soothe, hydrate and soften the skin.

Emma Vincent, perfumer at Lush, explains the connection between daily routines and scent: ‘We associate daily activities with the smells we regularly encounter: the smell of toothpaste in the morning or the pillow spray you spray before going to bed.

‘Every habit starts with a signal. We can use scent to recall these everyday memories and how we felt at the time, making scent a powerful tool in building routines that support our natural cycle of sleepiness and wakefulness.

‘Finding the right scents to wake you up or soothe you to sleep can be a wonderful way to weave scent into your daily life.’

Select Lush stores in the UK are also hosting lavender-scented Twilight bath bomb making workshops over the World Sleep Day weekend (March 15 – 17), with places limited.
