Machine Gun Kelly showed off the striking way he covered up some of his iconic tattoos.

The rapper revealed the transformation on Instagram On Tuesday, February 20, he shared a photo showing most of the top half of his torso covered in jet black ink.

“For spiritual purposes only,” MGK, 33, captioned the photo, which showed a cross design adorning the upper part of his chest down to his stomach.

Although the makeover has an undeniably fresh look – and both of his arms are almost covered in black – some of the musician's famous tattoos are still visible on the lower half of his torso.

Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, thanked the celebrated visual artist Roxx for work. The artist also posted photos of their sessions together via her own Instagram.

“Created some art with @machinegunkelly,” Roxx wrote next to a photo of the rapper's new look. “I've never met someone stronger.”

MGK commented on the post: “Thank you for the joy and the pain.”

The new designs received mixed reviews from the rapper's fans, many of whom took to social media to express their grievances.

“Why is everyone making their tattoos black now like it's fashion,” a fan commented on MGK's post. Another skeptic joked: 'If you leave your child unattended with the black marker…'

Others wondered if the dramatic makeover might be a sign of something worse.

“Uh. I wish you wouldn't do that,” one fan commented. “I loved your tattoos. I hate when people comment on tattoos (I have 15 of them), but I feel like this is a cry for help. You keep doing dramatic, drastic things all the time to erase who you were in the past, it seems. Idk man. I love you, but this is a lot.”

Described as a 'blackwork visionary', the Roxx, based in Los Angeles has also worked on celebrities including Ricky Martin, Adam Lambert And Rosie O'Donnell.

Kelly has feverishly expanded his tattoo collection over the years, getting matching ink with his fiancée Megan Fox in May 2022.

“I wish my ethereal light being the happiest birthday. i love you maki,” the rapper captioned a series of Instagram photos showing off their matching ring finger voodoo dolls.

Last year, MGK even got daughter Casie, then 14, involved by allowing her to add a custom design to his body.

In June 2023, the “My Ex's Best Friend” rapper shared an Instagram video of Casie taking a tattoo needle to her father's arm.

Before this latest cover-up, MGK was believed to have nearly 100 different tattoos all over his body.
