A MAN has been killed and several children injured after a horror crash involving a fire truck.

The five-car pileup took place in Crowland, Lincolnshire Yesterday I saw three young people running to the hospital.

Police are now calling on witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation into the impact.

Lincolnshire Police This morning it was confirmed that one man was killed in the accident, which happened on the A16 near the intersection with the B1040.

Police confirmed that three children had been taken to hospital but did not provide any update on their conditions.

Police said four of the vehicles were traveling south toward Peterborough, while one was traveling north.

Lincolnshire Police said: “We attended a five-vehicle collision on the A16 near the junction with the B1040 yesterday afternoon. The collision was reported to the Force Control Room just after 12.40pm.

“Unfortunately one man has passed away. His family has been informed by officers. Three children were taken to hospital.

‘The vehicles involved are grey Peugeot 308, a silver Kia Sportage, a black Mercedes, a gray one Volkswagen Transporter and a red Scania fire truck. The gray Peugeot, silver Kia Sportage, black Mercedes and Fire Tender all headed south towards Peterborough.

“The VW Transporter headed north towards Spalding. The road was closed at the time and reopened later that evening.”

Police asked people with a dashcam or other video footage that may have been taken in the area prior to the impact.

They continued: “We would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or recorded footage that could assist our investigation.

“Anyone who has information which they believe may assist investigating officers is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit by email at SCIUinvestigators@lincs.police.uk or call 01522 212316.

“Create incident 171 of March 3.”
