MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly ready to appoint Crystal Palace chief Dougie Freedman as their new head of recruitment.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already started his new era by moving to Man City’s Omar Berrada as CEO.

Newcastle’s Dan Ashworth looks set to take over as technical director.

And Freedman is now in line to revolutionize United’s transfer dealings.

The former Scottish striker has been Palace’s sporting director since 2017.

He is credited with amassing some of the Premier League’s top young talents in that time, including Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi and – most recently – Adam Wharton.

And the Independent claims Ratcliffe is keen for Freedman to swap Selhurst Park for Old Trafford.

Palace are aware of United’s interest and will not stop Freedman from leaving.

But they will offer him a new contract in the hope that he decides to stay and assist new manager Oliver Glasner.

United are keen for Freedman to join as soon as possible as they prepare for a summer of change.

Big-money signings such as Antony, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane could be on their way out.

And should he join, one of Freedman’s first tasks could be to complete an attack on Palace for United’s long-term target Michael Olise.
