MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain.

The transfer window is set to slam shut this afternoon as a host of clubs across the continent look to make last-minute additions.

But despite their struggles this season, the Red Devils are reportedly not interested in the French star.

The 21-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, hassleball.news says PSG have contacted United and several others to offer them the chance of a deal for their striker.

The tactic appears to have been a ploy by the Ligue 1 champions to increase Ekitike's fee, but the England team were unwilling to play along and quickly turned down the proposal.

Frankfurt will not pay more than £17 million for him, but PSG are demanding at least £25.5 million for the man who is desperate to leave the Parc des Princes for more game time.

Ekitike initially moved from Reims to PSG in the summer of 2022 after turning down the chance to sign for Newcastle in the Premier League.

Reims had agreed a £33million fee with the Magpies on deadline day two years ago, but the transfer fell through as Ekitike waited to meet with PSG adviser Luis Campos.

Explaining what happened earlier, Ekitike said: “I had an appointment with Luis (Campos) that meant a lot to me.

“It wasn't that long ago. We talked a lot, he is someone I really appreciate.

“I wanted to come to PSG before this exchange, but it convinced me even more.

“I'm not putting aside everything Newcastle did to get me. If I had to go abroad, I would have gone there. But if PSG wants you and you are French, you cannot refuse.”

However, the dream move has turned into a nightmare as he has scored just three goals in 26 top-flight appearances and has been left out in the wilderness this season.

Ekitike was one of several PSG players who were 'banned' in August to train away from the rest of the squad – a group that also included Kylian Mbappe.

And things haven't improved as the striker has only managed nine minutes of action this season, with his only appearance coming off the bench in mid-August.

Now he will be desperate that PSG and Frankfurt can find an agreement so he can try to revive his career in Germany.
