Marie Osmond says Ozempic is not “long-term effective” for weight loss

Marie Osmond shares her thoughts on the Ozempic craze.

‘I do not think so [it’s] effective in the long term,” Osmond, 64, told exclusively We weekly on Friday, January 5 about using diabetes medications such as Ozempic and Mounjaro to lose weight.

She continued: “I think you have to learn that food is not your enemy and that you have to do it the right way. That’s my personal opinion. And it’s healthier that way. I fully believe in health and taking care of your heart and organs and keeping this machine that we have healthy that keeps our souls healthy.

Osmond has long sung the praises of Nutrisystem, which helped her lose 50 pounds 15 years ago—and has helped her keep it off ever since. She even collaborated with the brand to create a weight-loss program specifically designed for women 50 and older called Complete 50.

Ozempic has become a hot topic when it comes to weight loss – with some stars confirming they have used the drug, while others denied it. “At 50, we as women go crazy,” Osmond explains. ‘That middle [body] fat, that’s what ultimately cost the lives of my grandmother and my mother. And I knew I was genetically predisposed to it. So, [Complete 50] is the answer. I mean, if you want to go and weigh it and cook it and measure it and do all the stressful stuff, but I just wanted to lose weight. And they do it in such a wonderful way that they give you the food you crave. You don’t feel like you’re going hungry.”

The singer admitted that she accepted her 50-pound weight gain as inevitable and “almost gave up.” [before] Nutrition system.” However, everything changed when one of Osmond’s sons encouraged her to prioritize her health.

“My son came to me on behalf of all the children. I was divorced and they said, ‘Mom, you’re all we have,'” Osmond recalled. “That was so hard, because you know you’re overweight, and 50 pounds for me is a lot. And it was one of those knife-to-the-heart ones [moments] that I needed.”

Osmond emphasized that for her, weight loss “is not about being thin; it’s about feeling her best.

“Weight ages us and it causes so many other side effects,” she said Us. “I lie down on the floor, I play with my grandchildren, I am active, I live my best life. At fifty you think, ‘This is who I am. Like it or clump it. I’m going to have fun.’ And for me, health is everything. I would have liked to have had my mother longer. I know she would have liked her mother to stay longer.”

Osmond is the mother of eight children. She shares daughters Jessica, 36, Rachel, 34, Brianna, 27, and Abigail, 21, and sons Brandon, 27, Matthew, 24, and Michael, who died by suicide in 2010 at age 18, with ex-husband Brian Blosil. She also shares son Stephen, 40, with husband Stephen Lyle Craigwhom she divorced in 1985 before remarriing in 2011.

“He was always my best friend,” Osmond said Us from Craig. “He said [before we got remarried], ‘I love you, but I have to make sure I still want to love seven more children.’ …And boy, do they love him. Oh, he’s a father. They love him and he is so good with them.”
