SHOCKED fans want Maurico Pochettino to get away over his ‘sacked’ claim that Chelsea played on penalties in the Carabao Cup final defeat.

Pochettino also insisted he had to replace ‘tired’ stars with young substitutes, before Virgil van Dijk headed in Liverpool’s 118th-minute winner.

“Your mentality stinks, leave my football club,” a Blues supporter responded to the manager’s admission.

And another hit: “This is a statement that can be dismissed. No???”

Some supporters pointed out that Pochettino was talking about the attitude of his players, and not his own wishes or tactics.

But that couldn’t save the ex-Tottenham boss from social media havoc.

One fan even suggested it would be “insanely toxic if he’s not gone.”

Another wrote: “What kind of mentality does this brother have, you are Chelsea in a Carabao Cup final, not Notts County.”

But this attacking line was offset by fans concerned that Pochettino had been misread.

One observer emphasized: “He said ‘THE TEAM’ – read and understand. It’s clear he never wanted that.”
